Top Romance Movies for Valentine’s Day!

Hey friends!

I hope you had an amazing weekend! We’ve had the best weather over the weekend in Nebraska! It honestly has been a very mild winter compared to last year, and I am 100% okay with that! :)

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, I thought it would be fun to share my Top Romance Movies! I’m a sucker for a good love story, so if you’re looking for something to watch with your significant other or for Galentine’s Day, whatever the occasion, I hope you find this list helpful. Let me know in the comments below what your favorite romance movie is!

THE NOTEBOOK— In my opinion, this is your classic love story! Some people might find this movie overrated, but I am not one of them! Haha :) I think this movie is the definition of a soulmate. Boy meets girl, boy and girl fall in love, boy and girl get separated because of their social differences. It’s one of those movies that makes you believe in the notion of true love. As we all know, relationships are never easy. They take work and, this movie showcases that and reminds us that if it’s meant to be, it will happen.

A WALK TO REMEMBER— This movie is a tearjerker, but hands down my favorite Nicholas Sparks movie! The movie follows two high school students that are complete opposites who end up falling in love. Together, they learn from each other important life lessons.

PRETTY WOMAN— Richard Gere and Julia Roberts are a dynamic duo in everything they do together! The two form a relationship and are an unlikely pair. However, I love this movie because the characters help bring out the best in each other, and isn’t that what a relationship should do?

HOW TO LOSE A GUY IN 10 DAYS— A great romantic comedy that involves two characters making bets that end up being a lot more challenging than they initially thought. This one is lighthearted and perfect if you’re looking for a movie that’s not so mushy :)

THE BEST OF ME— “You never forget your first love” is the quote I would use to describe this movie. It centers around two high school sweethearts that reunite years later. They are forced to deal with their past and must figure out if their relationship is worth a second chance.

THE LONGEST RIDE— Another Nicholas Sparks movie, but I like this one because it tells two different love stories. One centers around an elderly couple, while the other focuses on a younger couple. As the young couple faces challenges in their relationship, they find inspiration in an elderly man whose romance with his wife withstood the test of time. This one is special to me because it reminds me of Kent and me when we first started dating. We knew an elderly couple that had been together since they were teenagers, and they had a strong influence on our relationship.

10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU—I had to include this movie on this list because it’s not only a great romantic comedy, but it’s also my favorite movie of all time. The story focuses on two sisters with a very strict father who will only allow his youngest daughter to date if her older sister has a boyfriend. The older sister is very guarded and has no interest in a relationship. However, the younger one is dying to experience the dating scene so she devises a plan to find a guy who will sweep her sister off her feet. I like this movie because I feel like the best relationships are the ones you never expected to be in, which is sort of what happens in this movie.

HITCH—Confident and smooth-talking guys get all the girls right? At least, what’s what Will Smith’s character thinks. In this movie, his character helps men who aren’t very good at dating score girlfriends. However, when his proven techniques fail to work on a girl he’s interested in, things take a turn, and he must figure out a way to save his friend’s relationship and his own. If you’ve got a guy who’s not big on romantic movies, this might be a good one to try because it’s more comedy than lovey-dovey.

BEAUTY & THE BEAST— It’s a Disney princess movie, need I say more? Haha. As I’m sure most of you know, Disney movies are all about those fairytale romances. This just so happens to be my favorite fairytale :) I like this one because it’s a great reminder that love is more than just a physical attraction.

LOVEBIRDS— This is a Netflix original and it is FUNNY! The first time Kent and I watched this, we were crying laughing. It centers around a couple that is on the brink of breaking up. They accidentally get involved in a criminal investigation and together must work to clear their names and survive the night.

GHOST— An oldie, but a goodie. This movie stars Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore. Their characters are madly in love, but when Patrick Swayze’s character is murdered, he is left on earth as a ghost to try and figure out what happened and how to protect the one he loves the most. I like this movie because it makes me think of having a guardian angel (if you believe in that sort of thing). For anyone who has lost a loved one or someone they are close with, you might relate to having someone up above watching over you.

DIRTY DANCING— No one leaves Baby in the corner. The famous line that has made girls swoon for years. This movie is another Patrick Swayze hit in which he stars as a dance instructor at a resort club. There he meets a young girl that’s vacationing there for the summer, and they end up falling in love. However, her father forbids her to see him, but she is determined to change his mind. If you’ve ever had parents who weren’t too keen on a boyfriend/girlfriend, this movie is for you. Parents don’t always know everything! ;)

ABOUT LAST NIGHT— Ever had a relationship that started as a hook-up? Maybe you have, or maybe you haven’t. However, if you have you’ll find this movie relatable. Rob Lowe & Demi Moore star in this famous 80’s movie set in the Windy City. Two singles, just casually looking to have fun, no strings attached. However, when feelings start to develop, it forces them to reevaluate their relationship. Hooking up is easy, but committing to someone proves to be more difficult.

SWEET HOME ALABAMA—This is a sweet romantic comedy that focuses on a woman who got married too young, but wanted more out of life than what her small hometown had to offer. She runs off to NYC to reinvent herself and finds herself engaged to the city’s most eligible bachelor. However, unbeknownst to him, she is still married and must return home to end the relationship once and for all. Upon returning home, she realizes that maybe what she wanted all along was right where she left it. I think it is a great movie for anyone who has ever questioned their relationship. Sometimes, we have to leave to find what we are searching for.

Thanks for reading, friends!

Love, Brandi
