Thanksgiving 2020
Hey loves!
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! This year looked a little different for all of us, but I hope everyone got to eat some yummy food and give thanks for all the blessings in our lives. Our Thanksgiving was very small this year and consisted of me, my husband, and our moms. Both my siblings were out of state this year, and my brother-in-law's wife recently got over Covid, so we didn't want to risk getting more people together than needed. It is hard not being able to get together with all of our family, but I have hope that next year will be different.
It was our second year hosting Thanksgiving at our house, and I have to say, things went so much smoother this year than they did last year! I learned a few tips and tricks from last year's mistakes, but I also took the day before off from work to give me time to prepare the dishes I wanted to serve, which helped immensely! I decided to brine our turkey this year and was so pleased with how it turned out that I think I will continue to do this for years to come!
I spent the day before in the kitchen preparing all the dishes we were going to serve. This year we did scalloped corn, green bean casserole, stuffing, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie, and chocolate chip cookies! I don't know how I stayed energized throughout the day. The first time I sat down to eat anything that day was around 4:30 PM! I also went to the Thanksgiving Eve service at church that night. On Thanksgiving Day, I was up early to finish our turkey, and because I wanted to give myself ample time to get ready before our moms came over. I also wanted to have the majority of my to-do list done before the Macy's Day parade came on because that has always been a tradition of mine I've loved since I was a little girl. I was excited to see that my favorite band, The Goo Goo Dolls performed this year too! I love how detailed all the floats are! I think my favorite float this year had to have been the Coach float. The carriage and dinosaur were stunning! I've inserted a pic below in case you missed it.
(I do not own the Macy's Day Parade Picture)
We had a lovely time with our moms, and the food went over really well! I was a little nervous since this was my first time making a lot of these dishes, but I even impressed myself with how delicious they were! By the afternoon, though, I was exhausted and yet somehow found the energy to do up all the dishes and put up Christmas decorations that night! Thankfully, I've had some time to recover from all the festivities. However, I can't wait for all the Christmas activities! Stay tuned for my next post where I share my Christmas Decor! I will also be doing 12 days of Blogmas, where I share Christmas activities, gift guides, and holiday-inspired recipes! Let me know in the comments what you are most excited about this Christmas! :)
Love, Brandi
