Second Ultrasound | It’s a Girl!

Hey friends!

I hope you are all having a good start to your week! If you have been following along on social media or saw my Gender Reveal Video, then you know Kent and I are expecting a baby girl! We had our second ultrasound on March 4th, and it was amazing to see how much she’s grown! Throughout the whole appointment, she remained positioned on her side, which made it difficult for the ultrasound tech to get clear pictures of her spine and kidneys. However, from what she could see everything looked healthy! Our little girl was also a little camera shy on this day and kept putting her hands and feet up by her face. Our ultrasound tech was able to get a couple of face pictures, but she was using my placenta as a pillow so we could only see about half of her :) At one point, I was nervous we weren’t going to be able to find out the gender since she kept moving her legs up, but luckily she moved enough for us to get a clear picture.

At this appointment, we found out her heartbeat was 157 bpm, which is right around where it’s been at previous appointments. She’s around 14 ounces now, which is a little on the bigger side, but I’m just glad she’s healthy! I’ll be honest, I am a little nervous she might be a large baby, which doesn’t necessarily excite me when it comes to delivering her, haha. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens though. I was a 9lb baby and Kent was also a large baby so you never know. I noticed on my chart that they scheduled me for another ultrasound at the end of April. I assume I’m having another ultrasound so they can get better pictures of her spine, which I have no complaints about. At least I’ll get to see her squishy little face again so that’s a perk! :)

I was at 20 weeks when we had the appointment and I hadn’t felt her move up to that point. The ultrasound tech did tell me I have an anterior placenta. She explained that when the placenta is attached to the front of a woman’s uterus, it can take a little longer to feel the baby move. However, a few days later, I did start to feel little flutters and have recently felt a few stronger kicks! It’s an incredible feeling. It will be a little longer before Kent can feel her kicks, but I’m excited for that day to come. He did get to hear her heartbeat for the first time though! :)

When we got out of the appointment we had initially planned on buying confetti poppers to announce the gender, but we were dying to know the gender so we opened the envelope up in the car. You can watch our reactions in the Gender Reveal Video! I was shocked when I saw it said girl. Even though I didn’t have a preference one way or the other, I was leaning towards boy. My mom had been out buying girl stuff for weeks prior to the appointment, and I think because she did that I was convinced it was going to be a boy. I guess grandmas know best! :)

I am over the moon about having a mini-me! I can’t wait to dress her in all the adorable outfits. I’ve already been shopping like crazy for her. She’ll have bows for days, haha! I think what most excites me though is to see what kind of person she’s going to be. I’m also excited to see the daddy/daughter relationship with her and Kent. I did not have a close relationship with my father growing up, so I’m happy that she will get to have that experience. Kent is going to be a great girl dad! I already know she’s going to be his little princess and will likely be a daddy’s girl :)

I can’t believe I’m already halfway through the pregnancy! I will be doing a second trimester recap on here so make sure to stay tuned for that!

Thank you all so much for reading! I hope you have a great rest of your day and I will talk to you again soon!

Love, Brandi
