Planning Mom’s Surprise Party
Hey friends!
It’s finally Friday, and I am so excited about the weekend! Do you have any weekend plans? Kent and I are planning a date night, so I’m looking forward to spending time with him and being outdoors. I’m crossing my fingers the weather holds up! It shows there’s a chance of rain, but we’ll see what happens. You just never know with Nebraska weather :)
Today, I wanted to talk about a fun event I’m planning. My mom turns 60 this year in November, and I thought it would be fun to throw her a surprise party! Luckily, for me she doesn’t do social media and does not have a computer, or else I would not be able to share all ideas I have with all of you!
Anytime I’m planning an event (big or small), I like to start early. I love being prepared and having things organized as best as I can before the big day. This has always been my personality, and it just helps relieve a lot of stress as we get closer to the date.
For mom’s birthday, I’ve started brainstorming some theme ideas. I’ve been going back and forth between a 60s decade theme or something classic like black and gold. I’m leaning more towards the black/gold theme as of lately. I’ve spent a lot of time on Pinterest for inspiration and put together a mood board to help bring my vision to life.
I’ve put together a list of ideas that I know I want to do or recreate based on my mood boards:
Black tablecloths with sparkly gold table runners—I think this is such a timeless and classic look. Plus, I’m all about that sparkle :)
Balloon Arch—I think these are so fun! I’ve never done one of these before, but I think this would be the perfect occasion to have one. The only thing I need to figure out is where I want to put it. If any of you have any ideas, let me know in the comments.
Bubbly Bar—I saw this idea on Pinterest and thought it would be perfect for the occasion! I love how pretty the mini champagne bottles look all dolled up too. And, what better way to celebrate turning 60 than with a glass of champagne?!
Labels—Whether this is for water bottles, hand sanitizers, or candy. I think it’s a cute touch and makes everything look that much more festive.
Besides the decor, I know I want to have a game that has something to do with turning 60. Whether that’s trivia or something else. I’m still brainstorming ideas, so if you have any suggestions, please share them with me! :)
I still need to figure out a lot of details, but I’m happy to have settled on a theme. I’m excited to share this event planning process with all of you. I hope this helps any of you who might be planning a similar event soon. Stay tuned for more posts on this as we get closer to the date :)
I hope you all have a terrific weekend!
Love, Brandi
