Mini Home Projects
Hey friends!
How's everyone's week going? Here in Nebraska, we are experiencing -26 degree temps and blackouts! Gotta love Winter, right? :) Today, I am sharing some mini home projects we did this past week. Now that we are a year in and settled, my goal is to decorate the home with decor that will stay up all year long. This can be a daunting task, especially for a first-time home buyer like myself. However, to make things easier on myself, I went from room to room and made a list of items I wanted for each room. Next, I broke the list into two categories of things I could buy now and things I would need to save for. This method has helped me tremendously and made it, so I don't feel overwhelmed.
MASTER BEDROOM
The first project we worked on was getting our wedding photos hung in our master bedroom. One would think this would be a relatively easy task, but it ended up being quite a headache! Originally these photos were supposed to be canvas prints, but we accidentally ordered mounted prints instead. They didn't hang on the wall as nicely, so we decided to frame them. However, we ran into another issue when we realized the smaller prints were 10X15 prints, which is not standard frame size if you didn't know. I looked everywhere for a 10X15 frame to no avail. The only way I was going to frame the prints was to request a custom frame or have the photos reprinted to a different size. We chose the latter as it was the least expensive option. Once we finally had the new prints and our frames, we decided to get to work. Unfortunately, there was one more setback. Our center picture fell, and the frame shattered! We persevered, though, and finally got them up! :)
I knew I wanted a modern look, so I picked out silver frames. I thought the silver complimented our gray walls. I also picked up these adorable wall signs to go with the photos. I love how it turned out and am so excited to finally have some pictures on the walls! :)
MASTER BATHROOM
Our next project was to add some wall art in our master bathroom. This bathroom has a beachy theme, and so I wanted the artwork to reflect that. I found these beautiful canvas prints on Amazon. They came in a pack of 4 and were perfect for the look I was going for. You will see that we placed three of them on the opposite wall of the mirror and the last one on the wall by the sink. These prints really help tie the room together.
LIVING ROOM
The last project we worked on was adding floating shelves in the living room. I originally wanted white, but my husband pointed out our trim was brown in there, and it might be hard to tie the white in. Therefore, we opted for a dark brown instead. I also found these on Amazon. This is probably my favorite thing we did. It really takes this room up a notch and makes it feel more together if that makes sense. Plus, I love that I can decorate them for seasonal decor, and if you look closely, you will see a sneak peek of my St. Patrick's Day decor! ;)
Thank you all for taking the time to read this, and I hope it gave you some inspiration if you are planning on doing any small home updates. Stay tuned for my upcoming post, where I will be sharing my St. Patrick's Day decor! :)
Take care,
Love, Brandi
