Finding The Good

Hey loves!

Do you ever have those days where everything nothing seems to go right? Sure, you do. It's normal to have bad days, but sometimes those bad days can turn into bad weeks, and those bad weeks can turn into bad months. Before you know it, you are spiraling, and the negativity is weighing you down. I'm guilty of this. I've had moments in my life where I truly felt like my life wasn't going to get better. I expected my circumstances to change with the wave of a magic wand. What I didn't realize at the time was that I was part of the problem.

I was choosing to be negative. I was choosing to look at things with a bad attitude. However, the reality of the situation is I had a choice. I could choose to be happy, or I could choose not to. I know mental illness is a real thing and, I'm by no means trying to downplay it. I know some people struggle with depression, and for them, it may not be so easy. What about the rest of us? How do we move past the bad days?

The first step is realizing that tomorrow is a brand new day, a clean slate. The second step is mentally preparing yourself for the day. What do I mean by this? Let me explain. The other day, I was reading my morning devotional, and it talked about how a positive mindset can make all the difference in your day. Rather than talking about all the things you're dreading, you should instead talk about all the blessings God has given you. Below is an example the author of the devotional used:

Instead of saying, "I have so much work to do this week. I can't wait until it's over," say something like, "It looks to be a challenging week ahead, but I can't wait to see how God is going to use me!"

Do you see the difference? How we speak says a lot about our character, and when we choose to speak positively, and to be optimistic, it can make all the difference. Plus, I think we can all agree that emotions are contagious, and I don't know about you, but I'd much rather "catch" positivity than be around someone who is always unhappy.

Therefore, I encourage all of you to be a bright spot in someone's day. Unleash your inner sparkle, look for the good in every day, and remember storms don't last forever :)

Thanks for reading. I hope you are all having a fabulous start to your week! Let me know in the comments how God has blessed you this week.

Love, Brandi
